The 52 Project – A portrait of my daughter, once a week, every week, in 2013.
We are trying to teach our daughter about wants vs. needs. She has been begging for this hat for a few months now and we finally bought it for her. She never wants to take it off, which makes me feel good about the purchase. Now that it is -17 degrees out here in Minnesnowtah, literally, I guess technically the hat is a need. Even though she does have others, but daddy picked them out and they are just not as “cool”. I’m glad this is not at the bottom of the closet yet… I really do not like telling her no, on wants, I want to give her everything she wants. But I know that she will just expect that everything she wants is given to her. Hopefully we are also getting across the message to be grateful for what she does have. We are already in the stage of “so and so” has this I want it too. We are trying to get her to think if she really needs the item she wants. Hopefully we can teacher her to spend money wisely, even if someone else is paying for it. Any one have any advise? She does look pretty cute in this hat though.
